Dear Rev. Brown,

I am writing to you both as a Catholic and concerned citizen regarding your egregious letters and actions regarding Ms. Kathy Boylan.  Ms. Boylan is clearly acting in the true spirit of Jesus regarding her public prayers for peace and to urge an end to the horrific violence that is permeating our society at this time!  As you well know, the personal is the political and the political is the personal, as the teachings of Jesus has truly taught us.  Additionally, to explicitly bar her from making any judgments on others in reference to her religious beliefs is morally selective considering that the Roman Catholic Church and its representatives, on a daily basis, express and publicly state significant judgments regarding others.  Ms. Boylan is simply acting in the same spirit that you and others of the Catholic Church do, be it in sermons, prayers or song!

Sadly, reading your correspondence to Ms. Boylan, I can only wonder what demands you would have made of Jesus or his apostles if they attended your Parishes services!

I, as well as other colleagues of mine, share the view that you respectfully and urgently retract your cease and desist request and instead recognize the braveness, moral and religious actions of Ms. Boylan.  I have no doubt my letter will simply be one of many in full support of Ms. Boylan!

Sincerely,
Jerimarie Liesegang, PhD
