Golden moments shine in encounters with Elmer
We fancy even in talking we sang together
One story we wish now to tell
Amid painful tolling of the bell
Rehearsing the Plowshares vs DU Festival of Hope
One lawyer did feel quite like a dope
Until Elmer sat down at his keyboard
The rumpled genius became the lord
Playing familiar phrases of the Brahms Requiem
He gave a graceful invitation to sing with him
Behold all flesh is as the grass
And all the goodliness of Maas will last
In this old world of mirth and mire
We shall continue in Elmer 's choir.
