Faith and Resistance Retreat/Feast of the Holy Innocents December 28, 2005
Pentagon Vigil and Witness
Some of us walked up these stairs to the Pedestrian Bridge and blocked the checkpoint, asking workers at the Pentagon to resign their commissions, or asking them not to work for war. Two people hung a sign over the wall that said, "End All War."
We formed a vigil line at the edge of the stairs, and stayed there about an hour. We read the story from Matthew about Herod's massacre of innocent children, and we ask our government to stop the massacre of innocent children today.
We walked to the Metro Entrance.
"The Massacre Continues, Our Hands are Full of Blood, There are no Innocent Bystanders" which is to say that we who live in this country are all responsible for the warmaking of our nation.
We are gathering in a circle for the closing prayer.
The yellow banner is one that we had in Cuba on the walk to Guantanamo to visit the prisoners.. The banner says, "End the torture, Close the US Naval Base, Release the Prisoners."
