Judge orders Mich. nuns to pay $3,000 in restitution to Air Force

channel 6 Michigan

DENVER Three pacifist nuns from Michigan could go back to prison for their 2002 protest at a Colorado missile silo.

A federal judge in Denver has rejected community service plans that the nuns submitted in place of paying three-thousand-82 dollars in restitution to the Air Force. Ardeth Platte, Carol Gilbert and Jackie Hudson are members of the Dominican Sisters order in Grand Rapids, Michigan. During a protest rally four years ago, the sisters cut through a fence at a Minuteman missile silo and splashed their blood on it. They received multi-year prison sentences, which they now have finished serving. Copyright 2006 Associated Press. All rights reserved.
