The Southern Life Community will be gathering in Virginia Beach the weekend of October 19-21.
The Southern Life Community is a gathering of faith-based war resisters in the southeast, organized by Virginia and North Carolina Catholic Worker communities.
The weekend will include going to Moyock, NC to the world headquarters of Blackwater USA to protest near their 7,000 acre private military base. Blackwater is all over the world news presently in the wake of their massacre of Iraqi civilians. At the forefront of the privatized military “security” movement, Blackwater has been the most influential mercenary force employed by the state department in the Iraq war.

We’re hoping to get a group interested in nonviolent civil resistance at the Blackwater headquarters and the base.. We believe that nonviolent public resistance to evil is a constituent part of the Gospel.
