Hey, there!

Whew. Ya gotta move when the Spirit says move!

Five days locked up sure makes one grateful for rain, trees, air, life!

It was a good thing to witness with the other women inmates, “in” for street crimes.

It was healing to them for me simply to listen to their troubles and encourage them

to take back control of their own lives and to take the gospel, which some read

daily, seriously. It was an extreemly uncomfortable, yet gratifying time. We sang

Amazing Grace every night and I taught them Alleluia Anyhow, which they loved! Every

time the Blackwater protest came on the news, and on Montel, the women would holler

out to me to tell me about it. Here is a clip for the action itself:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QNTLaJe_JCI If you click on the above, it will open

to a five minute video of the Blackwater witness. To the right of that are related

links. I encourage you to view the Jeremy Scahill short. Jeremy is a friend of

Nicholas’ and wrote the Blackwater book - best selling non-fiction and his first!

He’s an amazingly articulate speaker. There is a note from Rebecca, the producer,

below. It was a Spirit thing.

Blessings and hope, Mary

Seven Protesters Arrested at Blackwater’s Headquarters by Bill Sizemore

Seven people were arrested Saturday at Blackwater Worldwide’s front
entrance after protesters re-enacted the Sept. 16 shooting incident in
Baghdad involving Blackwater contractors in which 17 Iraqis died.
It was the first protest at the 10-year-old private military company’s
headquarters, a reflection of its heightened profile since the Baghdad
shootings stirred Iraqi anger and created a diplomatic crisis for
Blackwater’s client, the U.S. State Department.
The protesters drove a small gray station wagon, covered with simulated
bullet holes and smeared with red paint, onto Blackwater’s property. One
lay back in the driver’s seat and five others got out and lay on the
ground, as if they had been shot. Continue Reading »

ALC history - a bit

It was the fall of 1976 as I recall it that we had our first gathering of the ALC - a bow and response and compliment (as well as complement) to the Pacific Life Community and the awesome work that folks were doing there in resistance. We have 31 years under our belt with many powerful witnesses. Thanks to all for each and every moment of love and nonviolence.
